 Niall discusses the growing popularity of Studio ONE…....

"Since retiring from professional football due to an injury over 20 years ago now, I have been fortunate to indulge in a real passion of mine, residential Architectural design.

I am also fortunate enough to live in an inspiring and beautiful part of the country. However, property prices in and around Cambridge are at a record high and new property or land is hard to acquire. Many people are choosing to enhance and improve their own homes with sustainable and innovative extensions, renovations, or new builds, whilst significantly increasing the property value along the way. Studio ONE is fast becoming a trusted partner in achieving this goal.

My long term desire to design and build my dream home, or my 'forever home', was achieved in 2018. The conversion of a derelict Grade II listed barn was featured in Grand Designs magazine. This inspired me in so many ways and I now realise that there is no such thing as a forever home (at least for me). I will always continue to better myself, to design better homes, and to inspire others.

The success of Studio one is based on this shared excitement and enthusiasm to really get to the heart of what our clients want and then turn this into reality.

Having been a full member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology (CIAT), for many years now, together with lecturing in Architectural and Building Design here in Cambridge, I have developed a unique insight into what my clients want from their projects. Knowing how to showcase and develop these ideas, and helping clients to visualise their dreams, advising on techniques, materials and processes to really maximise them, and then applying the expertise to get these schemes approved with the local authority have been key factors in our success. Furthermore, Studio ONE has developed a comprehensive network of  local consultants, contractors, and industry professionals over the years.

Most of all, I love doing what I do. Architecture is incredibly rewarding and satisfying. I am fortunate to have the ability and opportunity to shape the landscape of our built environment and to change people’s lives through what I do.
